Ever thought about strapping a gigantic fan to your back?

I know it sounds crazy, but have you ever thought about strapping a gigantic fan to your back? Maybe to make it ultra nerdcool you could control it with a Power Glove. Yeah! I think that the guys at ThrustPac had the same idea, except that they actually built one. It looks kind of like a jetpack, but minus all that dangerous fire and flying around. There are some videos on the manufacturer's site, and for some reason I just can't stop laughing. I love it!

The product is pretty simple. By using a small and efficient gasoline motor to drive a fan the ThrustPaC delivers 10 to 20 lbs of thrust which translates into ~30 mph on a bicycle. It has a small tank for 30 mile jaunts, and the ThrustPac gets about 150 miles per gallon. Each ThrustPac is custom built so each unit is designed around the wearer's intended uses. As the device is worn on the rider's back it can be applied to any type of nonmotorized conveyance. The company is even able to build one for a wheelchair! Prices range from $900 to $2,000 depending on the options.

Bulldog are a nightmare .... but 40mb ????

Moving office is like moving home.

Apart from packing up desks and furniture, there's just as much to sort out by way of electric, gas, telephone & broadband.

Now we have always used Bulldog Broadband since they started five years ago and had an account manager in the business department. I called to say we are moving but got a recorded message "Bulldog business sales no longer operate. Please use our website to place an order."

OK, this post could go on for ages but let's just say it took me 2 weeks to be able to order the new line and cancel the old one. The next stage was waiting another 2 weeks until I was given an installation date. At this stage the new office is ready for us to move in.

BT turn up and install the line. The builders have finished all the refurb. Everything is looking up.

Problem: Broadband doesn't work.

The next 4 days are spent on the phone to Bulldog technical support who did not even seem to know what a computer was let alone what I should do with my router that had been completely locked down.

In the end I bought a new router as it seem to me that the problem lied there. Low and behold it worked first time.

Next problem .... we ordered 16mb line and the router is only showing a connection speed of 6mb. I phone and report the problem to be given a ticket number. I never got a ticket number before. I also never got a call back, but this time I did.

From Cable & Wireless - Bulldog Business Team !!!

Apparently CWA still own Bulldog Business .... but the main telephone system Bulldog uses routes all calls to residential call centres. The CWA team actually know what they are talking about too. The best thing is I have a direct number to this department. (Anyone who needs this let me know).

They changed the line profile to ADSL2+ for me and asked for a speed test to be run.

39mb ..... 41mb ..... 38mb ..... 40mb

( Had to run a few tests as we could not believe it ! )

Wow this rocks.

I am sure there is a moral somewhere in this story. Perseverance pays? I dunno but we got a 40mb line and that's all that matters !!!!
